Genesis – This book looks at the Patriarchal age. It takes the reader from the creation of all things to the arrival of the Children of Israel in the land of Egypt. Joshua – Joshua takes command of the Children of Israel now that Moses is gone. He leads them into the promised land. The first 5 Chapters look at the preparation for taking the land. Chapters 6-12 examine the taking of the land with a close look at 3 specific battles: Jericho, Ai, and the protecting of Gibeon. The final 12 chapters examine the division of the inheritance and Joshua’s goodbye to the people. Job – A longsuffering patriarch from the patriarchal age. Satan is allowed to take away his possessions and his health. His wife tells him, “Curse God and Die!”. His friends tell him he is a great sinner. Job just wants to know why everything has happened to him. Right Click to Download: Job 1-42
Ruth – A story of loyalty, faithfulness, and selflessness. A widowed Moabite woman chooses to cling to the God of Israel and care for her widowed mother in law. Her wonderful story carries the lineage of Christ and is a great type of gentiles coming to Christ. Right Click to Download: Ruth 1-4
Song of Solomon – A book which examines the relationship of Christ and the Church. A young maiden is held captive of the harem of King Solomon. Her Shepherd rescues her from his clutches. When she is freed, she waits in the wilderness for his return. Temptation and dedication are vividly described throughout this book in the characters of the Shulammite (the church), the Shepherd (Christ), the King (Satan), and the Harem (the World). Esther – The young maiden Esther is taken from all that she knows and put within King Xerxes harem. Her faithful guardian Mordecai guides her with advice as she rises to the position of queen and has the opportunity to save her entire people (Jews) from the evil schemes of Haman. Daniel – Daniel and the captives Shadrack, Meshach, and Abed-nego are taken away to captivity in Babylon. There, Daniel writes this 12 Chapter book. The first six chapters deal with the captives’ interaction with the Kings of Babylon and Medo-Persia. The second six chapters deal with visions given to Daniel while in captivity. Haggai – One of the minor prophets. Haggai delivers four messages from God. One message is delivered to the leaders. One message is delivered to the people. One message is delivered to the priests. One message is delivered to the govenor – Zerubabbel. Right Click to Download: Haggai 1-2
Amos – One of the minor prophets. He prophecies judgement upon the Nations, Israel, and Judah. These judgements are not a surprise. God has tried to discipline the people to repentance. The book ends with messianic prophecy and hope. Right Click to Download: Amos 1-9
Joel – One of the minor prophets. Among many items, this book contains prophecy toward the day of Pentacost when the outpouring of the Holy Spirit occured. Peter quotes this prophecy in Acts 2 and looks back to the words of Joel. Right Click to Download: Joel 1-3
Jonah – The prophet who ran from God. Jonah is known certainly for being swallowed by a great fish. He is also known for being the most successful preacher of the Bible. He had a 100% success rate with the people of Nineveh. Right Click to Download: Jonah 1-4
Nahum – One of the minor prophets. He sends a message to the people of Ninevah. While the message of Jonah a prior prophet was “repent”, the message here is one of judgement. Three key points from this book are: God is slow and patient with His dealings with mankind. God will care and watch over those who seek Him. Habakkuk – A minor prophet. Habbakuk calls out to God in regard to the wicked people of Judah. This book is one of judgement. It looks at God’s judgement, His timing, His wisdom, and the Faith of man. Right Click to Download: Habakkuk 1-3
Obadiah – The story of two brothers – Esau and Jacob – two nations in struggle. There will be judgement for the wicked and the obedient. Right Click to Download: Obadiah
Malachi – A Minor prophet. This book is a message of Spirit and Truth. An arrogant Judah can see no wrong in their actions. Examined are a great number of themes directly applicable to us today. Right Click to Download: Malachi 1-4
Zephaniah – A minor prophet. Discusses final judgement of all mankind. Calls all men to repentence. Examines patience of and with God. Establishes there will be a day of great rejoicing away from evil. Right Click to Download: Zephaniah 1-3
